Boston University STARTALK Portuguese Teacher Training (PTT) program focuses on the Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) of Portuguese as a pluricentric language.


The program is open to teachers with one-year of teaching language K-16 in Portuguese in the U.S.

Native, near native, or advanced proficiency in Portuguese and a minimum of a bachelor's degree are required.

At the end of the program the successful participants will receive certificate of completion, professional development points (PDPs).

Time and Place

The online portion begins on June 18th and runs through July 20th. On July 21st teacher participants will meet onsite for workshop and July 22nd to present their prepared teaching material.

Please note: If you are unable to commit to the July 21st and 22nd meetings in Boston, please do not apply.


Non-local residents will receive reimbursement after submitting original receipts.
Lodging: Accommodation for the nights of July 20th and 21st will be provided.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch on 21st and 22nd will be provided.
